Wine & dine onboard. Overnight onboard. Day 02 Arrive at Mysore Mysore has been always associated with the royal families and their patronage, be it the Wodeyars or the Sultans. Mysore was the capital of the princely state with palaces and princely buildings till Independence. Mysore also has a rich cultural heritage and celebrates festivals with pomp and grandeur like the world famous dussehra. A visit to the Island fortress of Tipu sultan of Srirangapatna lets you relive the pages of history of courage of this great warrior who stood up bravely to the might of the British Empire. Drive to Kabini (A World of Wildlife). Srirangapatna: The island fortress of the legendary warrior king Tipu Sultan is just 14 km from Mysore city. Inside the fortress is Tipu's mosque with its twin minarets, the Wellesley Bridge and the dungeons where British officers were once imprisoned. Kabini: A World of Wildlife Return to train. Overnight onboard. Day 03 Mysore Sightseeing Mysore Palace: Mysore Palace or the Maharajah's Palace located in the heart of the city at Mirza Road, is the most attractive monument in Mysore. One of the largest palaces in the country, also known as Amba Vilas, was the residence of the Wodeyar Mahararaja's of the Mysore state. The original palace built of wood, got burnt down in 1897 and was rebuilt for the twenty fourth Wodeyar Raja in 1912. Brindavan Gardens: Located at the Krishna Raja Sagar Dam, Brindavan Gardens is one of the best gardens in South India. Spread over 150 acres, Brindavan Gardens has since the 1960s provided the backdrop for many Indian films. Return to train. Overnight onboard. Departure form Mysore. Day 04 Arrival at Hassan Drive to Halebidu / Belur (A World of Worship). Board the train & lunch on board. Shravanabelagola, 52km from Hassan, is an important Jain pilgrim centre. It is home to Asia's largest monolithic statue Lord Gomateswara here towers 58 ft., looming atop the picturesque Vindhyagiri Hill. Every 12 years, Jain pilgrims gather here to participate in a splendid head-anointing ceremony. Return to train, dinner onboard. Departure to TB DAM. Day 05 Arrival at TB Dam Drive up the hill for breakfast. Train to Hospet / Hampi (A World Heritage Site).
Although in ruins today, this capital city once boasted riches known far beyond the shores of India. The ruins of Hampi of the 14th Century lies scattered in about 26 sq. km area, amidst giant boulders and vegetation. Protected by the tempestuous river Tungabhadra in the north and rocky granite ridges on the other three sides, the ruins silently narrate the story of grandeur splendor and fabulous wealth.The splendid remains of palaces and gateways of the broken city tells a tale of man's infinite talent and power of creativity together with his capacity for senseless destruction. A visit to Hampi is a sojourn into the past. Most of the important structures and ruins are located in two areas, which are generally referred to as the Royal Centre and the Sacred Centre. A visit to Anegundi village by traversing the gushing Tunga Badra river on a coracle is an experience that provides the guests with a glimpse into the traditional country life in Karnataka. Departure from TB Dam. Day 06 Arrival at Gadag Drive to Aihole & Pattadakal. Badami: A World Heritage Site Pattadakal is a World Herltage Site, which stands testimony to the richness of Chalukya kings. Aihole is widely acknowledged as the cradle of South Indian temple architecture. There are hundreds of temples strewn in the villages nearby. The oldest temple here is the Lad Khan temple dating back to the 5th Century. The Hutchimalli Temple out in the village - has a sculpture of Vishnu sitting atop a large cobra. The Revalphadi Cave - dedicated to Shiva - is remarkable for its delicate details. There are hundreds of temples strewn in the villages nearby. Departure to Goa.
